At two and a half years old, Recolon was fearless

It seems appropriate that there’s a double “p” in Recolon Jumpp’s surname – a perfect way to underscore the pizzazz and personality that this 5-year-old from Orlando has in abundance. Those qualities virtually “jumpp” from his beaming, friendly face with anyone he meets. You’d be hard-pressed to see any signs of the dangerous blood disorder that almost cost him his life just a few short years ago.

That’s because it no longer exists, thanks to pediatric hematologist-oncologist Dr. Greg Hale and the physicians at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute. Dr. Hale found – after an expanded nationwide search – a near perfect match for Recolon’s cord blood transplant. As the largest pediatric blood and marrow transplant program in Florida, ACH JHM had already performed an impressive 625 of these transplants and Recolon was next.  READ MORE
